MINI-EVENT planned for July 17!

Sunita is played by the exquisite Seeta Devi.
Our festival in April was such a success that we are going to hold another mini-event on Sunday, July 17 at 4:30 pm at the Wilton Town Hall Theatre! Why wait until next year, right?
And the even better news is that this showing will be FREE (though donations will of course be accepted and appreciated!)
And this event will be unlike anything you've seen - we plan on showing A Throw of Dice, a magnificently restored silent masterpiece from 1929.
Based on an episode from the Indian epic, The Mahanharata, A Throw of Dice tells the story of two kings vying for the love of a hermit's daughter, the beautiful Sunita. The two kings, Ranjit and Sohan share a passion for gambling and decide to play a game of craps to determine who will marry Sunita. The winner wins the girl, the loser becomes the other's slave!
The film is important in that the producer and star went on to to form Bombay Talkies, the crucial link between early Indian cinema and the glorious Bollywood we know today. The film includes more on location shooting and tigers and elephants then you can imagine for such a classic film!
But wait, that's not all! This screening will feature original LIVE music by silent film maestro Jeff Rapsis. Rapsis specializes in creating live musical scores for silent film screenings.
Plus, we'll also a screen a surprise companion piece to the film that we think you'll love! And that's not all! We'll also film a couple classic Bollywood videos from the 60s and 70s that are sure to get you feet tapping and seats shaking!
